In Memory

Carolyn Jensen (Slade-Pitsker)

Carolyn Ann Jensen-Slade
1947-2008
Passed away from cancer on June 28th, 2008.  Carolyn was born on April 22nd, 1947. She graduated from Torrance High School in 1965.  Her association with the Torrance Unified School District began long before then with her grandfather, Carl Steele, who was on the first board of education. Her mother retired from the district after teaching there for many years.  After graduating from Long Beach State University, Carolyn began teaching in Torrance first at Arnold Elementary and then at Adams Elementary where she spent most of her 37 years in the district before retiring in June.  She also spent a year teaching English in Kashiwa, Japan, through the Torrance Sister City Association program.  Carolyn's love of life was exemplified by her enthusiastic participation in teaching aerobic dancing for many years, running many 10 k's and marathons, traveling, her great love of animals, and attending Angel baseball games.  She is survived by her husband, Vernon Pitsker; and her mother, Maxine Jensen Wanbaugh.  She will be fondly remembered by her many friends.
