School Story:

Lots of great memories.
Still remember George Lopez tearing up a referral & throwing it back into the classroom through the window over the door.

Still remember Mr. Armstrong throwing erasers at students who were dozing in his class

Still remember Mr. Hulse blacking out all the windows in his math classes so everyone would pay attention to him

What did you do right after high school?

Went to El Camino, then Long Beach & UCLA

Moved to Hermosa Beach, played in amateur/semi pro soccer leagues

Ended up doing lots of backpacking in the Sierras

What did you want to do or think you were going to do when you finished high school?

Thought I was going to be a teacher or a dentist

What would we be surprised to know about you?

I became a Christian--I love the Lord!!

I'm also an avid fly fisherman....I love to tie flies, chase trout, tarpon & steelhead.

Had box seats to see the Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl

My father spent time in Poston, a japanese internment camp in Arizona

I've survived 3 bouts with Cancer, one hip replacement and I'm still quite healthy!

What’s your favorite memory of THS?

Playing sax in rock n roll band in Redondo Beach at the 'Grand' for hundreds of students and playing for some of the parties after football games.

Biggest thing you would do differently if you went back to your time at THS?

Drive myself to school. It was a long walk from Avis avenue (near the city pool)

I’ll always remember what an incredible and challenging person he was in high school—- especially when we were competing for student council positions.

I' so sorry to hear about the loss of another classmate. While I didn't know John well. I always admired his confidence and ability to engage and lead people.

I will always remember his amazing memory for all the students he counseled. His encouragement , caring heart and genuine interest in everyone he met brightened everyone’s day.

I always looked forward to talking with him at our high school reunions.
